Mt Wellington / kunanyi is a premier tourist spot in Hobart. I have written a small guide to accessing the Mountain to get Hobarts best view!
TOP OF THE SUMMIT
There is parking at the top which is clearly marked at three different sites in the carpark. It is a steep roll down to the enclosed glass viewing area but it is all sealed. You cant get down on the wooden viewing deck as there is two sets of stairs. The enclosed viewing area is fully wheelchair accessible with a slight bump near door that should be easily traversed in ether a manual or electric chair. The push back up is quite steep and I struggled with it as a quite able para. I ended up getting a push from a helpful person as I was struggling up hill into the wind. There is a fully accessible toilet which is clearly marked from the carpark.
THE SPRINGS
There is also a toilet and one parking spot at the springs, a spot before the ascent on the Mountain rd. The coffee shop is accessible and there is a picnic area/BBQ you can also get to. The Sphinx rock track is ONLY accessible with a helping hand and a freewheel! I did this with a free wheel , I friend had to help me over a few drains. I think even without a free wheel you would be able to do with assistance over the drains. DO NOT ATTEMPT ALONE OR IN ELECTRIC CHAIR.
Other notable things
Road is very thin drive with caution. Weather can change in an instant please be prepared for this. Look for the weather warning signs and guides on the roadside.
