The salmon ponds and hatchery is an ideal venue for a wheelchair user. The whole site is basically level and very easy to access. There is two toilets available. One in the main building and one down at the BBQ area/ fishing platforms. You can fish for trout on the three platforms available. This is no extra cost and is exclusively for wheelchair users. The ponds themselves are easily accessed by a level gravel path at their side. The museum is accessed by a gentle ramp with no door lip. A great café with level entry and good circulation. A must see site a short trip from Hobart.

Wheelies Comments: Hill down to ramps is slightly steep and some manual wheelchair user may need assistance. I managed it solo in a manual chair as a T4 Para. Gravel path is great and not slippery at all around ponds. Fishing platforms are great! My advice would be to purchase wattle grubs as bait. You must bring all your own fishing equipment.

Please note fishing platforms had been flood damaged at the time of my last visit and are currently getting rebuilt. Please phone ahead if the platforms are the purpose of you trip.
